2023 MECHANICS DAY MESSAGE FROM THE
Rt. Hon. ERROL G. COLLINS
MOST WORSHIPFUL GRAND MASTER
The Grand Council of the Independent United Order of Mechanics,
Friendly Society of North, Central and South America, Islands of the
Seas and the Entire Western Hemisphere, Incorporated.
Greetings:
This is Mechanics Day, a day when Mechanics Worldwide gather in
places of Divine worship to reflect on the bounteous blessings given by
the Great Architect of the Universe. We also give thanks for the
accomplishments during this period and reflect on those goals still to
be achieved, with the help of the Almighty.
As we lay out our vision for the future on our Trestle Board, we ask for
His blessings, and according to His will, that our plans and endeavors
be successful.
It is important to reflect on the goodness and mercies of the Great
Architect of the Universe and the many blessings He has bestowed on us
during the entire period of the COVID-19 PANDEMIC. Today we
remember our Sisters, Brothers, Family members and Friends who have
passed on to the Celestial Lodges Above, with the hope that their souls
will find Eternal Rest.
As we know, Mechanism is based primarily on the principle of the
Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Man. It is non-political
nonsectarian, welcoming anyone of good character who believes in a
Supreme Being.
On this Mechanics Day, all District Grand Jurisdictions worldwide under
the umbrella of the Independent United Order of Mechanics, Friendly
Society, Western Hemisphere, Incorporated, are celebrating this
milestone.
“BACK TO BASICS”
This year we Celebrate 266 years of Mechanism since the establishment of Grand Council in Lancashire, England in 1757. We also celebrate 82 years since the Headquarters of the Grand Council was transferred to 65 Putnam Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, on September 1st 1941.
The question that is often asked is, “What is the source of our Sustenance? What keeps us going? The answer is within these three words:
Friendship: The Master said, “Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no man than to lay down his life for his friends.” (John15: 12-13).
Love: “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God.” (1 John 4:7)
Truth: “You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free.” (John 8:12)
It is our hope and prayer that individually. And collectively we have each learned something from the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our experience should teach us that no man is an island, each of us need the others. United we stand, divided we fall!
On behalf of the Executive Committee of Grand Council and my family, I wish for you and your families God’s richest blessings. May the Lord watch between us while we are absent one from another, and may He continue to bless the Independent United Order of Mechanics.
Fraternally,
Rt. Hon. Errol G. Collins
Most Worshipful Grand Master
